Shipboard telecommunications cable for fixed installation at all ship’s levels (including outer deck where it needs to be protected against UV irradiation) acc. to IEC 60092-352 standard, in circumstances requiring fire resistance. Specially suitable for passenger ships because of improved characteristics under fire. Also applied at open sea platforms. Copper braid acts as reinforcement and screen against external electromagnetic impacts.

Conductor: bare or tinned copper conductor, multi wire stranded, class 2 acc. to IEC 60228 / HD 383 / DIN VDE 0295, round
Insulation 1: mica tape, fire resistant halogen-free dielectric
Insulation 2: cross-linked polyethylene - XLPE, acc. to IEC 60092-351 (more recent mark for cross-linked polyethylene: PE-X), per two conductors twisted in pair: (exceptions: two pairs twisted as quad; three conductors twisted as triple), conductors are number marked 1…n, twisted in pairs in succession 1 and 2, 3 and 4, etc., possible insulation colours are black, white, or blue and white (per one blue and white conductor in pair)
Filler / inner sheath: polyolefin based compound; or without filler, with separator of polyester tape
Armour / Screen: braid of tinned copper wires, min. overlap 90%; copper contact conductor
Sheath: polyolefin, type SHF1 or SHF2 acc. to IEC 60092-359
sheath colour: grey, orange or green
